About the North London Reading Group
The North London Reading Group is a reading group based around the Piccadilly line in North London.
Since it first met in June 2007, it has has given birth to six other reading groups in North London (and counting!)
In 2009, it was also nominated for the Penguin/Orange Broadband Readers' Group Prize.
How it works
We read and discuss a different book each month. We focus on novels - so no short stories or non-fiction - but anything else goes.
You can see what we are currently reading, and what books we have read in the past, in the books section of this site.
Where we meet
We each take turns to host, whether in our homes, local watering holes or other places of interest. The host has the honour of choosing the next book.
The group was inspired by the Oxford Reading Group, which is run along similar lines and has been going since 2003. A couple of us were members until work commitments pulled us from the dreaming spires towards the big smoke.
From time to time, we also get together with the other groups for extra curricular events.
Can I join?
The North London Reading Group is full, but you can join our mailing list if you:
- want us to let you when there is some space in any of the groups in our little network
- fancy starting a similar group of your own
- want to be kept up to date with events and things.
To drop us a line about anything else, please use the box on the right.
